We always remember a question, a glass half-empty or half-full? How you answer this age-old question about positive thinking may reflect your outlook on life, your attitude toward yourself, and whether you are optimistic or pessimistic.
We need to feed our minds with good thoughts and ideas. Re- member, that the mind is similar to a computer. It does not question what you feed into it. It accepts everything, but it does use what you put into it to come up with ideas and solutions to your problems and to direct your actions. Mind is an open source which stores everything in. If it is fed negative thoughts. you will get negative advice. But positive input will surely result in positive output. The mind is so open to its conditioning that it can put a person in hospital even when one is not ill. Many of our sicknesses are psychosomatic. We all have psychosomatic in one way or the other. To say the truth that no one is untouched by psychosomatic. Well, what is psychosomatic? I know many may be curious to know even though you know it earlier.
The term Psychosomatic has two components PSYCHO means that relates to your thinking, feelings and emotions; SOMATICS means that relates to the body. It leads to physical symptoms, usually without any other medical explanation or diagnosis. It can affect almost any part of the body. People with somatic symptoms often seek frequent medical attention for tests and treatments. They tend to become increasingly worried or anxious. It’s important to know that somatic symptom disorder is not the same as “faking it” or exaggerating symptoms. Scientists are not sure about it. Some believe that stress releases hormones and chemicals in the body that cause damage or dysfunction. I remember one of my College friends used to avoid the meeting whenever we gathered to discuss on upcoming programmes. It so happened one day, I went and asked him the reason for not coming for the meeting. He replied me that he had headache. I too believed and moved on. After a month we had another meeting regarding internship and the same friend came and left the hall without telling us anything. I was confused, after the meeting I went to meet the friend and he was watching video on his phone. I asked him the reason for not coming for the meeting, he retorted me that he had pain in his right arm and went for oil massage. But the truth came after an hour interacting with him. He was also shocked to know about that. Actually speaking he had no pain or ache but it was be- cause he disliked one of our friends in the group and acted as though he had pain which is not true. He came to know much later after consulting with his mentor. In order to avoid the meeting most of us play the role of the same as though we have same problem that my friend had. No one realizes that it is psychosomatic disorder. Many people think that they have pain or ache but the result would show that they have no issue in the body when they meet the doctor. It all because of what we have fixed in our mind. We give more important to what is not there than what is there.
All those who want to pure heart and mind would regularly build a reserve of positive attitudes by constantly feeding their minds with pure, powerful and positive thoughts on a daily basis. They realize that we are all going to be face with the negativities and if we have an adequate reserve of positive attitudes we will be able to overcome it. Other- wise, the negative will prevail, In 2016, I learnt Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) which is part of my degree. I really wondered about the programme by its starting stages. In NLP anchoring is the first and foremost stage. It is to set up on the client accessing resources from their personal his- tory and as the practitioner observes the state build in the client. The practitioner sets the anchor by applying a unique form of touch in a unique place on the client’s body. The practitioner holds the anchor for as long as the state is peaking, often about 20-30 seconds, sometimes longer or shorter depending on what the client is assessing, After the anchor has been set, the practitioner tests the anchor by applying exactly the same touch on the same part of the client’s body. If the client naturally goes into a state when the touch is applied, the anchor has been successfully done and proceeds with the client very smoothly or else it won’t help both of them. Thus, collapsing of anchoring ends the session.
Think of a time when you were totally relaxed. It all depends on you. You need to recognize your position. If you hit your head against a rock, nothing much is going to happen to the rock. What will get damaged is your head only. We need to accept the fact that some situations and certain attitudes of people cannot be changed however hard we may try. It is good to be aware of yourself and what you are. Don’t become negative about yourself when people haven’t given you adequate recognition rather find the way and means to face it with positive mind. Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you ignore life’s less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst. Is it possible in this modern and media world?
The newspaper is filled with negative news. Television and radio reports most of the times on tragedies and crimes to increase their TRP rate. How often do you read or hear about people helping each other or doing something positive? There may be hardly few individuals. If you do nothing to counteract this bombardment of negativity, you are going to thing negatively. You need to take control on yourself and stop watching and listening to all the negative news in order to imbibe positive attitude.
Why I say positive thinking/attitude? Positive thinking often starts with self-talk. Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. These automatic thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of your self-talk comes from logic and reason. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you create because of lack of information or expectations due to preconceived ideas of what may happen. If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook on life is more likely pessimistic. If your thoughts are mostly positive, you are likely an optimist. I have never had someone come to me and saying, “I am always negative and it’s working out great for me.”
In life most of the time we tend to focus on the 5% of our lives that are going wrong instead of the 95% going well. At last it all depends on you. You decide to begin your life
