Today, the greatest challenge of young generations is getting into job. Through that they want to strengthen their personal life, social life and also economic status. They are some- times caught up with the preoccupation of getting a job. This stress affects their social life and mental well-being very much. Job is an important factor. With job we can do. everything, either fulfill our desires or family needs but the important one is we eventually attain confidence, self-respect and social status which makes us feel the part of society as I mentioned pointed above. Now searching for a job can be a stressful proposition because it is intrinsically high-stakes. Even if you are searching while currently employed, the idea is that finding the right fit will improve your life. Rather than letting yourself get over- whelmed, allow yourself to feel invigorated. Past few years, people are satisfied with any work even though they are from different field. This search, getting job, visiting different institutions, organizations brings lot of stress to the people.
My research paper on the same subject was greatly aided by a friend’s study of young people’s job-related stress in Tamil Nadu. The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of workplace stress before and after Covid-19. It has been linked to life satisfaction and long-term work success to have a job as a teenager or young adult. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it became a significant obstacle. The majority of young adults experienced financial hardship, which resulted in psychological distress. Even today, there are many job seekers as a result of Covid-19. They develop psychological imbalances as a result of the lack of response to their need. The Coronavirus brought a ton of difficulties and con- tests in which human needs are limitless and mean to fulfill them are scant. When all of a person’s de- sires are met, life can become easier. One cannot accomplish their objectives because of all of these challenges. They experience mental stress as a result of the delay in meeting their needs, which results in failure, loss, unavailability, illness, and a variety of other influencing factors.
A new report from the International Labour Organization (ILO) confirms that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected young people more than any other age group, and that recovery in youth employment is still lagging. According to the report, the total number of young people without jobs world- wide is expected to reach 73 million in 2022, which is still six million more than it was before the pandemic in 2019. We say young adults are the backbone of every society, providing energy, ideas and investment potential. But across the world, young working people would be the first to lose their jobs, or will have to resort to lower quality, less paid, insecure or unsafe jobs. Whom shall we question? Unemployment becomes a stigma of young people where ever they go.
As a result, unemployment can have significant and long-lasting effects not only on an individual’s mental health but also on the mental health of their family. At the point when somebody is job- less, they frequently experience sadness and a decreased identity worth. This can be particularly challenging for people who were once proud breadwinners but now find themselves unable to support their families financially. Nowadays psychologically, unemployment-related stress and anxiety are also common. They may have difficulty in meeting basic requirements like housing, clothing, and food if they do not have a regular income. This can make a ton of vulnerability around the future and a sensation of being overpowered or feeble.
Such youngsters may also have trouble sleeping and developing health. Stress levels anisms as a result of unemployment. The individual may have more time to 3/4 cult-to-manage thoughts or feelings when they are unemployed, leading the…gage in unhealthy ways of coping, such as substance abuse. The individual’s family members are also likely to experience stress and anxiety. If the primary breadwinner is unable to support the family financially, the family may experience feelings of guilt or shame. Due to their mental health issues, the unemployed person may also appear distant or with- drawn, which can have a negative impact on family relationships.
For example we see a lot of sad and painful statuses on Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook as a result. They stop talking and mingling with people face to face and spend more time on social media. For them the world is just in the virtual entertainment. The majority of youngsters are unsure of what to do and unwilling to consider other’s perspectives to make change in their lives. It is very pathetic to see some young people who enjoyed their job once became unemployed because of various reasons. I have also come across number of youngsters who loss or don’t have job are struggling a lot to cope up the society. Some they ruined their life because of unemployment. Should this go on like this? What are we going to do for this people? Are we going to shun or blame the government? We have loss many young people on this field. So it’s right moment to be with them and accompany them to bring back to the normal life style. Let’s stop telling the person that you are an unemployed.
So with my limited experience I would say:
It is important for individuals and families who are experiencing unemployment to seek out resources that can help them manage their mental health. Professional counselling can be beneficial for both the individual and their family, as well as support groups that offer an outlet to discuss the challenges they are facing. Additionally, seeking out financial assistance or job-seeking resources may help to ease some of the stress associated with unemployment.
• With access to these types of resources, individuals and families affected by unemployment can work towards better mental health and a brighter future. know living with unemployment can be an emotional rollercoaster, but it is important. I to remember that individuals are not alone in this journey. There are countless resources available to help those affected by unemployment manage their mental health and build a brighter future. With support and access to the right resources, individuals and families can move forward. Because we are called to be a social being! Let’s not blame others rather take responsibilities to shape the future.
